“I am on my way. I can go the distance. I don’t care how far. Somehow I’ll be strong. I know every mile will be worth my while.” – Disney Lyrics from Hercules

I ran five miles yesterday.

Sneakers and water bottle in hand, I made my way to the treadmill. 3 miles completed early in the day. Sneakers and water bottle in hand, I made my way to the treadmill. 2 miles complete later in the afternoon.

3 + 2 is five.  Five miles.  Woo-hoo.

Last year, I was so strong at this time, a running Hercules.  But “I’m on my way” again, and “somehow I’ll be strong.”

Sunday – 4 miles

“I’m on my way” again, and “somehow I’ll be strong.”

Monday – 4 miles

“I’m on my way” again, and “somehow I’ll be strong.”

4 +4 is 8

Tuesday – 3 miles, then 2

“I’m on my way” again, and “somehow I’ll be strong.”

8 + 3 + 2 is 13

13 miles.  13 lucky miles.

“I’m on my way” again, and “somehow I’ll be strong.”

And every one of these miles truly has been worth my while.

  1. Take care of those knees and hips though! You want to be able to run steadily and readily! Tallying the miles is a good way to keep yourself motivated…speaking of Disney, when my kids were in second and fourth grades we told them if they wanted to do to Disney World there would be lots of walking involved and they would have to carry their own bag, so we needed to be in shape. We had a recumbent bike and took turns over the winter and spring pedaling our way there. We tallied all our miles and when we got to our goal, we drove from Maine to Boston and took the train from Boston to Florida to Disney World.
