Together again. Gee, it’s good to be together again.*
I love running with one of my girlfriends. We keep the same pace. (I love how she slows down for me.) We talk to whole time. (No matter how winded we are.) We talk about my husband’s college days. (She has great stories). We talk about our jobs. We talk about out kids. We talk about everything.
We’ve been bundled in layers and in shorts and tanks. We’ve run in Vermont. We’ve run Rhode Island. We’ve run long. We’ve run short.
I wish we could run together more. Real distance separates us. Miles. Hundreds of miles. Schedules. Life.
We run together virtually. We monitor each others runs. We use an app called Run Keeper. While she and I trained for different races we could view each other’s daily runs. We could look at each other’s reflections on each milestone. Each success. Each heartache. We text. We call. We share.
When she ran the Chicago Marathon last year, I could follow each mile she took on line. And I could cheer her on as I watched a little icon that represented her. I could monitor her success. I felt like I was there.
Whenever we are reunited,” it feels so good.”” I just can’t imagine that [she’s] ever been gone!”
